Brief Career Background:
Jonathan Sapp is an historian of Medieval Europe. His research centers on the
interaction between institutional church reform and the emerging ancestor cults of the warrior nobility in western France from the tenth to twelfth centuries (900-1150 CE). He is also interested in medieval strategies of dispute processing, the cult of the saints, and premodern humor.
